Barcelo Cardiff Angel Hotel - Cardiff

The staff were very helpful and efficient. Check-in and out was done quickly and with a smile. The housekeeping staff were friendlty and were happy to give extra pillows and towels when you asked. The room was one of the modernised ones and was fine. I think perhaps the hotel needs to be regraded, as it doesn't have the finish and polish of a 4 star, but its still fine. Good points - everything spotlessy clean, good sized room, big wardrobe with safe, comfy bed. Things that weren't quite right, but made me smile - there was plenty of lights, but they were all connected up in a stange way, it was a bit like the Krypton Factor to try to get the right combination on. They also need to put a bit of WD40 on the doors in the corridor to stop them squeaking. They were a little bit miserly with the milk. Room for improvement (and these are the bits that make it not 4-star for me) - shower curtain was old with paint splashes all over, shaving mirror wobbled, hook on back of bathroom door wobbled, the plastering and paint was a little shoddy in places. Overall, I would stay again, but only if I had a good deal. It worked out cheaper than the Travelodge in town (especially as we didn't have breakfast included, and just went to one of the many many cafes nearby) and was perfectly adequate. It's not a 4-star hotel, but great location and good value.

Helpful but unfriendly staff. Shower didn't work properly as half the water came through the bath tap. one towel for two people. Room ok size but small by comparison to others I have stayed in. Best thing is the location.

Next to the Castle, ideal location for all activities. However stayed in room 316, paint hanging off ceiling beams, would benifit with double glazing. Bed clean but would benifit from dusting and mildew cleaning in shower area. This is possibly the grubbiest room i have stayed in for a few years. The Angel Hotel is possibly living off its past reputation, in need of refurbishment. Try other hotels first when booking

Great hotel, lovely decor and very comfy beds. Very clean, great friendly service and an all you can eat full-english - what more could you ask for. We will definitely be staying there again.

Lovely hotel, showing its age and showing that it is proud of it! functional rooms with nice big telly. Room service was reasonable and of a very high standerd.

I was a little put off by some of the comments written on the website, parking was an issue, but fortunately i managed to get a place so I didnt to have to work my way around a busy cardiff on friday evening. The hotel does seem a little dated, however we opted for the Premium Double which gave us a modern room with a nice big tv and a view that was literally pointing straight at the castle, so if you're after a room with a view then it had it. For me the worst part was the shower, it really was like being spat on from a hundred feet, not a power shower nor to a standard that I am used to in 4* accomodation. Food was decent, breakfast was decent, albeit you are so central if you fancy something different and more wallet friendly then you can pop into one of the local cafes and get some coffee and toast, but sunday breakfast in bed was required and it was delivered superbly well. I think this hotel is good value for money, when ou get a good offer, but to pay the full whack I would struggle to be as charming in this questionnaire.

The hotel is perfectly located - my windows overlook the Castle! The hotel has everything you need. Overall, it is somewhat worn out, but staff is polite, willing to assist, and amenities, large modern TV - all was available in the room.

The location of the hotel is great - literally cross the road from The castle and Bute Park, and a minute's walk from the Millennium Stadium. The main shopping area s about two minutes in the opposite direction. That having been said, whilst there is a certain elegance to the lobby, the hotel rooms and common parts come across as slightly tired and faded. It's the sort of place that is becoming desperately old-fashioned and really needs a revamp. And so to my pet hotel hate: mould in the sealant around the bath. It happens in so many places , costs virtually nothing to put right. So why does it happen in so man of these older style hotels? If you are looking for a clean comfortable place in a great location, this is it. But if luxury is what you are after..... More than a 3* but falls some way short of 4* luxury.

Two rooms were booked.  126 was acceptable but 125 was in great need of refurbishment.  The noise of the traffic kept the occupants awake, the bathroom was shabby  and the room was dark due to lights being in the wrong places.  There was no mirror above the dressing table.

i really enjoyed staying here, it was so central and within a stones throw of the millenium stadium and castle.in fact I had a fantastic view of the clocktower from my room.The staff were very frirndly and helpful, and I think I'd definately be going back. There was one downside and that was the walls didn't seem very thick, and I could hear the people in the corridor more than I would have ex[pected to, but even that wasn't a problem

Right in the center of Cardiff, close to everything, the Angel Hotel has old hotel charm at a great price.

Bra rom,men badet luktet ikke godt, Virker som om der var mugg sjult under badet. Hard seng. Stor flatsjerm. Frokosten var dårlig. De hadde ikke annet enn syltetøy til å ha på toasten. Måtte be om annet pålegg. Anmasende fyr som hele tiden gikk rundt å spurte om alt var ok.

Alter traditioneller Bau mit geräumigen Zimmern, großes Bad. Allerdings hat auch der Zahn der Zeit seine Spuren hinterlassen Dachzimmer einige Wasserflecken und abbröselnde Farbe an der Decke. Der Service ist ok ich finde Handtücher müssten nicht täglich sondern nur auf Wunsch gewechselt werden. Im Gegenzug wäre ein kostenloser oder doch deutlich günstigerer Internetzugang wünschenswert. Viele Restaurants in der Nähe, man bekommt aber auch im Hotel praktisch rund um die Uhr für den großen oder kleinen Hunger.
