Best Western Arosa - Madrid

Refurbished room, but very small. Our big suitcase blocked the way. Good bed

Great location, convenient and clean hotel, although food is not cheap, breakfast is about £16 each, but saying that some hotels in the uk charge this amount. Hotel is located between two metro stops, both within 5 mins walk. Staff where friendly and helpful when needed.

The enterance is not exactly on the gran via, nor is the hotel as adveritsed as well as other hotels on the street. On entering the lift we used was tiny and erregularly shaped (a daunting and clostrophobic experience). The woman at reception that checked us in was not very friendly but may have just been having a bad day, other staff were fiendly. The room was clean, and cleaned well. The fittings were average, and slightly dated, but not so much, as we got used to it quickly, There was a vent in our room that conected us to the room beside us, this aloud light and smoke to pass though, which wasn't comforting. The matress wasnt to my taste either- too hard. The bar area was dull, we didnt have breakfast in the hotel, plent of cafés near by, inc starbucks. On leaving the hotel another guest was in a major argument with a member of staff, which turned into a shouting match, this took place in the bar area, which was disturbing other guests, I wonder why the member of staff couldnt have chose a private room for this discussion. The hotel is extreamly central, near to several shopping streets and dept stores, so for this reason mainly, it was a good hotel for the price we paid

The best thing about this hotel was it's location, so central. We took the tube from the airport for €2 and exited at grand via, turned right ant walked about 100 yards to the hotel. The rooms were small but comfortable and well sound proofed from the traffic outside. Bathroom was a bit dated but clean. We were booked for room only so cannot comment on breakfast. Bar menu for sandwiches and coffee seemed a bit overpriced, so ate local, spoiled for choice. My only complaint would be the size of the lifts, so small.

Having travelled to our room in the smallest lift you you could imagine(and it was triangular in shape too) we found that the bed was much too hard for the both of us and we hardly slept and this was made worse by the extensive noise from the street compounded by Police sirens all night. The staff were fine, the room okay but we were glad to go home and catch up on our sleep. We did not eat or drink at the hotel as it was far too expensive e.g almost £4 for a small bottle of Coke.

Comfortable room with good air conditioning. No information about hotel and its facilities in the room and overall probably not as luxurious as other 4 star hotels I've stayed in city centres. However considering the price for 4 nights room only and it's location, I can't really complain. The nearest tube station to the Hotel is Gran Via which for some reason does not show up on hotel.coms map of the hotel. It has wireless facilities for customers but no PCs to access the internet with. Earplugs also came in handy as noise from the road is bad at times, plus our room was right next to the utility room for the floor with door slamming at various times of the early morning

Los Arcos is located 2 blocks from the Grand Via Metro. A great location for catching the metro or for exploring. The neighborhood has some good bars & tapas - very local and quite safe, even at night.

We booked a double room but ended up with a twin room. It was comfortable all the same. It was a bit dusty around the edges but it wasn't a problem. We could hear our neighbours kids but all was quiet at night. The hotel was central and easy to get to. We did not bother to much with the services the hotel had to offer.

There is no mention that we have a flight of stairs to go from the street to the elevator, and nobody to help with the luggage. The taxi left me at the door of the hotel, and there was no bell person. I had to struggle with my 2 bags since I couln't leave them outside without risk of losing them. Also, I asked if there was a shuttle to go back to the airport, the reception person said yes but reserve one day early, which I tried to do, but was told it's too late. I had to take another taxi, which made my hotel stay much more expensive than reserving in a 5 star hotel with shulttle service. The breakfast was decent but very expensive. overall, it cost me twice the price of the room. I give one star to this hotel.

Overall satisfied with room. Not the best neighborhood, hookers frequent it.

When I checked in I was not happy with room and the carpet. The next day, I talked to reception desk and they gladly gave me another room that had hard floor and it was much nicer than the first on. Then, I was satisfied with room and the help with the staff. Teresita

For the amount I paid for this hotel, I think I will stay here again if I ever been in Madrid on holiday. It is in the center of the Madrid and not far from all the night life hotspots in walking distance. The room is great and, on the contrary, it has many international channels on Tv in the room as it was written on earlier reviews.

The location was very convenient, because it is very close to the one of the main staions in Madrid. One can imagine a hotel on a major street must be very busy and noisy, however, Arosa is just off Gran via. Therefore it was very quiet, that is I hoped. Besides, the hotel staff were very friendly. My room was little bit small though, it was clean. I can't recall any negative aspects. If I go to Madrid again, I'll return to Arosa, definately.

Hotel was in a great location in Madrid. It is in the middle of Gran Via which is the main street in Madrid. The room was clean and service was good. As most of the affortable hotels in Europe, the room was small and the bed was very hard if you compare it to a hotel room in the US. Overall I think this was a good choice for the money and the location plus the room was acceptable. I would recommend.

I recently stayed at Hotel Arosa for my spring break from college. They understood that I was 19 and that is why I feel that they took advantage of me in a sneaky way. I needed to upgrade my room and aparantly the rate changes for the worse... My original room came with free breakfast every morning, however I needed to upgrade the room thinking that the same rates would apply for 2 people (seeing as my girlfriend had been staying with me). No, it didn't. They had charged me for the breakfast for two people and did not mention this until I had checked out. Another incident was that the room I was upgraded to came with a free mini bar (or so it says on the website the Japanese rooms) but I called and they informed me of the other rate you needed to pay for it to be free... Just annoying. That was what discouraged me, I had felt a sense of resentment. Other than that the location was very nice, and Madrid is beautiful. Just watch out for the fast ones that the pull.

This Hotel was very conveniently located just off the Gran Via. We found our way to it very easy by metro from the Airport and it only took approx 45-50mins. The staff were very friendly and the breakfast and service facilities were excellent. The room was bright, clean and comfortable and I really liked that dark curtains at night. I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanted to visit Madrid.

The Hotel is located in the middle of the Gran Via district with easy walking access to the centre of Madrid. I was given a single room which was compact but very well layed out, scrupulously clean and more than adequate. A couple of minor issues rest around the walls seperating rooms being particularly thin. I could hear my neighbours telephone conversation and even his snoring but not to the point where it disturbed my sleep. The best recommendation I can give is that I shall use the hotel again when I next visit Madrid.

Hotel Arosa is a very good hotel which offers a high standard of cleanliness and a good all round service to its guests. Location is excellent within walking distance of main sites meaning you don't have to ride on the crowded metro. Despite other reviews saying it is a noisy place my single room on 5th floor was very quiet and lead to a relaxing visit. Left luggage facility made for a pleasant last day.

In Gran Via, three blocks away from Sol Not very nice neighborhood at night if you don't know the city very well. The room was totally refurnished, wood in the floor and the walls, very nice bathroom.

While the hotel was pretty cheap the rooms we were given did not match the ones on the website. They were dated and tired. Also the staff were pretty unfriendly. On the upside it's clean and in a good location.

This was a fantastic hotel. Modern clean rooms, great showers. Great location - walking distance from everything, hotel staff were polite and friendly. Only minor issue would be the size of the minuscule lift - barely room for 2 people with luggage in one, and no luggage room in the other!!!!!!

The room was too small. It was a none smoking room, but it smelled like someone was smoking there. I did not like it at all, it dosen't seams like a 4 starts hotel.

The one thing this old hotel in downtown Madrid has going for it is location. The reception desk is on the 2nd floor and our welcome was not particularly friendly or helpful. There is a fairly decent breakfast included. The rooms are small and not well furnished, but the bathroom in our room had been completely renovated with good quality fixtures. The hotel is convenient to the metro and many amenities. Location is fairly noisy.

Excellent location. Easy to get to metro and sights. Always lots of people out and about. It is in a busy area, so if noise is a concern ask for an inside room. You can also hear noise from hall and other rooms at times. Awesome, hot, high water pressure shower every time. Bed was okay. Could also get wireless in your room with free password. My breakfast was not included, and was pricey there. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The one thing I did not like was one day I left (intentionally) my Do Not Disturb sign on my room and the maid went in anyway.

good location on the gran via and near the metro. clean rooms but small. only real issue was that despite a late check in at 7 pm I still had to wait 30 min for my room to be ready.

On Grand Via, main street, centrally located. One funny thing, you wont see a lift smaller than this. But a great experience.

Great location, friendly staff bear in mind that 4 stars are relative to the country you visit. Comparable to a very good 3 star in my view.

This hotel is in a great location right next to the Metro and 5 minutes to Plaza Mayor. I stayed in a single room and I was very impressed considering that I had read some bad reviews on here but I was totally impressed with the hotel, it was very clean and I would highly recommend this hotel to anybody. They also do not charge for use of their safety deposit boxes.

Good clean centrally located hotel, ideal for walking or Metro and buses. Madrid can be extremely hot and noisy at night,but our room was air conditioned and almost sound proofed. The 2 lifts were tiny so if there's a group it might take a time to get your luggage to your rooms.

Good, central location in the old part of Madrid. Walking distance to many attractions/sights. Rooms very clean and fairly spacious - especially the bathrooms. Free Wi-Fi (ask for the voucher at reception), is a real plus as many hotels ask 20 Euros a day for this. Would stay there again as quiet, cool (has AC) and central.

good eats around teh hotel A. fantastic set menu (aprox 9 euros) at la gloria de montera (street calle del caballero de gracia); just a 5 minute walk from the hotel we found it through the lonely planet guide & were extremely pleased.

hotel was fine, except that they tried to stick us with two Breakfsts that we did not order.

I would recommend this hotel for its great location next to Gran Via and its modern feel, despite aging exterior, made it a comfortable stay. Furnishings fresh and modern especially the bathroom fittings.

It didnt help that we arrived on a 34 degrees day. The room we had was just alittle cooler than outside. We thought it was just the warm weather and endured the first night in the sweltering room. Second night, we had an electrical blackout 5 times in a row and decided to call reception. After some fussing about, reception wanted us to stay in the room for longer to test if the fault continued, but we said we had enough of 5 blackouts in a row. We got a change of room and it looked newer and more like a 4 stars hotel. So, hopefully you are lucky and get a newer room in this hotel. The lifts are a pain too, they only fit 2 people max! Location is great though!

This hotel is right in the middle of where you want to be in Madrid. Our room was massive and the bathroom really nice and recently updated. I would recommend this hotel to anyone...I travel a lot with work, so have stayed in a few. The location is excellent all the different part of central Madrid that you would want to see and close (<5mins) to a Metro station for the rest. I wouldn't bother with buying their breakfast though, you can get it much cheaper within minutes of the hotel (there is even a nice little cafe opposite). Overall, very impressed and would use it again.

The place is simply great. except for the elevator but, it is understandable to maintain the elegance of the place
