San Juan Hotel - Miami Beach

The hotel was comfortable, maids came in every day to change towels and clean, it was however in need of a full refurbishment. However at the price I paid it was reasonable.

The hotel is extremely dirty. The pictures posted on the web are a total lie. We spent 2 hours just trying to buy sheets, towels, clorox wipes, soap etc. Absolutely disgusting place. Had to take a shower with my shoes on, the bath tub was very dirty. The water was yellow when it came out. There was dried out s***t on the toilet.

literally the a/c was off the whole time. they say central a/c but they dont turn it on. i sweat all day and all night. hoping it would cool down but it never did. also i called before i booked the room to verify they had internet, they said yes. i get there and the lady at the desk says no sorry internet is down. we have a tech coming tomorow. which would have been on a sunday. didnt make sence. over all wak stay . . .

First thing you should know about this hotel is, it's not 5* quality! But you get what you pay for and this is a nice hotel. I had a brilliant holiday and would definately go back. The hotel building itself is not in the best state of repair, we had a very bad rain storm whilst there and quite a bit of rain came into the room round the window but that didn't cause that much of a problem and had we wanted to change rooms the staff would have arranged that immediately! The staff were brilliant, very helpful and willing to assist in any way possible. The location is excellent. Right in the middle of South Beach, 1 block to the beach and 1 block to Lincoln Rd Mall for shopping, restaurants and bars. There is not a bar or restaurant in the hotel but a Walgreens is on the next block for everything you need and delivery menu's are available in the lobby if you fancy take away. One thing i'd mention is there isn't tea/coffee making facilities in the room so if you need your brew in the morning, take a travel kettle etc. Also, there is a microwave & fridge in the room but no plates, cups or cutlery provided. The hotel pool is really nice but has limited space around it for sunbathing. All in all I really enjoyed my holiday here and would definately go back!

Definitely a no-frills hotel, but it fit my needs. I had a relatively clean place to sleep and leave my stuff. There wasn't a lot of designated space for luggage, but the floor was big enough where you could put your things on the ground and not trip over them. The fridge and kitchen sink were nice to have. The place had some noisy guests, but management was responsive to my complaint and they immediately piped down. Overall, if you're looking for a cheap place to crash, this is it!

For the price.. i thought i was in heaven!!! Walking distant to everything!

The location is outstanding, and the price can't be beat, but the room was dirty and we found a few bugs in the hotel room - including one in a bed.

I have visited South Beach a lot over the past several years and this is by far the cleanest budget property there. The staff was really friendly and helpful and my room was comfortable. Also, the cafe attatched to the property makes the best latte ever!! It's not a 5 star hotel but it's definitely better than all the other 2 stars on the beach. Just keep in mind that parking at the hotel is kind of expensive ($20, I think) so you may want to park at the city garage 2 blocks away (the front desk should tell you about that option...) Oh, and the location is unbeatable!!

I have visited South Beach for years now and this is by far the best budget property on the beach. The service was great and the location was unbeatable. The hotel is a bit old but you can tell they are improving it. We had no issues. My room had a brand new mattress and when I was switched to a smoking room, that room also had a new mattress. Worth mentioning - the cafe attatched to the hotel makes the best latte ever.

The hotel is right next to a Liquor store; the building next to the Liquor Store is abandoned. It is really close to Lincoln Road, which is good though... and just across the street from the beach, so if you don't mind the shady immediate surroundings, it's not too bad. The bathroom was dirty. The lobby smelled really bad and was pretty ugly. The door to our bathroom didn't closed and the elevator was quite possibly the worst/ugliest elevator I've ever been in.

Considering the location in South Beach...very good room for the money. That being said if you do not want to hear every conversation in the hallway then this is not the place for you. But if you are like most South Beach visitors you don't spend much time in the room. Only 2 blocks from the beach and to good restaurants, not bad a tall.

So, when we finally arrived at our room we were surprised by its size. The downside was that we got the room directly in front of the elevator which made the annoying ding sound everytime it opened up and it was quite audible from our room. The bathroom was small with an airplane sized toilet. The linens all had hair from past guests so thank goodness we brought our own towels and sheets. We got a different room but not until the next morning. The noise at night is pretty bad if you're near the elevator, lots of drunk people coming in late at night... The pool was large but did not look very clean. The people who sit on the front porch of the hotel were pretty sketchy looking and were loud. I'm not sure if they were guests at the hotel or just randowm people. There's also a charge to use the safe thats automatically billed to your room. It's crazy because the sign disclosing this fee is hidden directly behind other signs and I had to ask if there were any other charges before this sign was put in plain sight.

oh my gosh where do I start....the location is excellent, for south beach shopping, however; the hotel was trash if it wasn't so late when I arrived I would have looked for another hotel. It was dirty , the rooms were horrible and the shower did not have a shower head it had no hot water and full of rust. I only stayed because it was for one night and I slept with my clothes on, I would not lay on the sheets.

The hotel was pretty cool in the best position for my girlfriend and idea. It was right ont eh beach and across the street was another hotel that had several nice cars across the street so walking out of the hotel was a joy. THe hotel service was nice especially because the water was not as hot as it should be. Other than the water i was extremly satisfied.

The location was perfect but the hotel needs improvements. It was near the lincoln mall, walking distance to the clubs and beach but had no parking. No AC, no complimentary breakfast nor any coffee makers in the room.

Yes is cheap. Staff is friendly but I couldn't feel worst that just acrosss the street from the Delano I was staying here. I assumed that by being in South beach they would at least make the slightest attempt to make it look trendy. I was not looking for too many amenities but the rooms look like a cheap road motel from the 70's. The smell was not nice. One unexpected bonus is that the shower pressure is actually quite good.

It was clean Service was adequate Old Structure, Funky decor, Huge gap under the door (feels weird) Shared vents(If neighbors cook you smell) No AC control.

cheap, nice hotel located in the heart og south beach.. 2 minutes from linchon road mall(shopping street), 2 minutes from the beach.. and right across the street from some fancy clubs:)

the hotel pool was on the side of the building and on the other side was contruction, some of the lights in the room dont work, the bed is comfy , the location is great your right next to lincoln road mall, dont plan on getting any sleep the noise pollution will keep you up. But other than that it was pretty ok.

The hotel was fine. The problem was that the cable only showed 3 channels. Another issue is that you had to run the water 10 minutes before to get warm water. The hotel was kept clean and always saw people working on it. The people were friendly and helpful.

Service was OK. The room was clean, but the bathroom need an urgent remodelation. Excellent location, but no parking.

I stayed at the San Juuan 2 nights 2/3-2/5/09. The location is fantastic a block from south beach and less than one block from Licoln Mall. There is lots to see and do within walking distance. The hotel was just a shoort walk to Ocean Drive. The hotel is old and a bit ruin down. I manage to get a room with both a microwave and refrigerator which was nice. When I arrive I saw the notice posted at the front desk that there would be a $2.00 per night charge for the availability of a room safe. I would not even consider leaving anything valauble in that room so I protested about the fee. and got it taken off my bill. Cab to this hotel is 36.00 shuddle service is 22.00 the bus 2.50 if you have at lease 2 hours to spare:) There is no available parking at the hotel so expect to incur additional parking charges if you come by car. The mattresses were very old. I looked for bed bugs but did;nt see any although I did come home with some kind of bite marks . The TV only got a few channel. Yes of course I wish the hotel was nicer . I would rate this hotel a one star. Great location though! that's it's best feature.!

The hotel was very run down and in need of a lot of improvments. From the lobby, to elevator, to hallways, to rooms, and bathrooms it ALL needed a good cleaning and major updating. There was a 4 inch space between the bottom of the door and the floor, no thermostat in the room and NO HOT WATER!

For the money the location is great and the staff was very pleasant. The decor could use updating. I have stay a few blocks down a year ago and it was not as nice as Old San Jaun. I hope to be back again.

Location was convient. Parking was $16 t0 $25 a day. You should know that going in. Cable doesn't work and not all your room lights will work. Could be hard to get to sleep because of all the honking across the sleep from people turning into the hotel next store.

Room itself was clean, but overall the hotel had a grotty feel to it. Service needs to be improved. I was sent to two rooms which had not yet been cleaned before I finally got a clean room, while I dragging my very heavy bag up and down different floors- no appology or anyone to help me with my bag.

Well-run, inexpensive, clean & [my one stay] cockroach-less, one block from Lincoln Road. Situated on Collins across from hotels @ 3 or 4 times the price. Well-stocked liquor store, next door. Courteous, efficient front desk. Students & young people--yes, but no excessive noise. Many attractive foreigners & their families. Adequate pool & laundry facilities. Probably Hispanic family-owned & extended-family serviced. Carping reviews I read prior turned out to be petty: I would return & recommend.

The hotel is not fancy but great value and the location is perfect. Hotel is next to a very useful store. The front desk was helpful. The room was clean and yes the sheets smell like clorox but that means they are clean. The temp in the room was just fine (no adjustable thermo) and the bathroom was clean and towels were a little beat up but clean.

Old building even with the renewal. The bathrooms are not clean and very old and the rooms are very small. The price of the hotel is in the location not the quality

I am only 18 so I was worried about getting a hotel, but this hotel let us stay comfortably with no problems. The room was clean and it had a fridge and microwave. We went to the beach, which was very close, and it was on a good street near shopping. Very fun trip, I would stay here again.

Location is great, the room is ok for the price, but they should think about remodeling rooms a little bit...maybe painting the doors and the bathrooms, changing the beddings, etc. For the price and location, it's worth staying for one or two nights...on a low budget trip! ;)

I travel to Miami very often and this was my first time staying at the San Juan and it was a pleasure. It was very nice and I am one that expects great customer service and I received it and I would be sure to stay there on my next trip.

listen for the amount of money i paid for it, it's definitely worth it. it's right next to the beach, dining, and shopping areas.

It was a great deal for the two nights we were there. For the most part, it was clean, but the bathroom was old and dingy, the beds were broken down and the sheets reeked of bleach. It was a tired, old art deco wannabe.

I went in to check into the hotel, the clerk and about 5 other guests were shouting at eachother because apparently the rooms were overbooked and it was a serious situation. I was honestly scared and I thought someone was about to pull out a gun at any minute! Of course we left because we did not feel safe AT ALL being in that situation, and would not even consider staying there after what we experienced! so we never checked in and we went elsewhere.

The lobby gives you a good first impression of the hotel, but when you step into the room you are gonna be disappointed. the shower was not clean at all and also didn't work very well. the water was everything else than warm. the good thing about this hotel is that it is only a 5 minute walk to the beach and close to the washington and lincoln road. the outdoor pool was pretty cool. but all in all i don't think that this hotel deserves 2 stars.don't trust the low price. i would rather spend a little bit more money and stay in another hotel.

The location is great but the place is pretty run down and old. The towels they gave you were very old and rough. The hot water was more like luke warm and sometimes pretty much cold. Cannot control the temperature of your room very much since there is no thermostate. My wife developed a red skin rash after the 2nd night probably because of the room not being very clean. Beware.
