Royal St Charles Hotel - New Orleans

The hotel was good overall. The only thing that I was not happy with was the parking. I had to park 2 blocks away in a parking garage which cost 35 dollars, but in New Orleans French Quarter parking is an issue so the hotel was good.

This hotel has many rooms with out windows. The linen is not ironed giving a impression it has not washed.

Hotel staff was a little shady, tried to make me pay for valet when it was advertised as free. Other than that it is New Orleans, hotel was very close to burbon had a blast. They should of let us know it was decatance fest, didnt see that coming.

Not very "boutique" as they claim to be. Boutique hotels don't have graffiti on the walls of the lobby bathrooms. Boutique hotels don't have frayed towels. Boutique hotels DO have a responsive, courteous and efficent staff. Boutique hotels have a manager on duty and that manager is reachable and willing to hear what's going on in their hotel. I still am unable to contact a manager about my experience. It took over an hour to just get our car keys turned in to the valet. You can forget about bell service... it's non-existent but there are carts so you can schelp your own stuff upstairs. The staff member in question was almost willfully slow... it took him almost 5 mins to take anyone's keys. He took 7 people's keys until I was the last one at the podium, and he looked me in the eye and said he had to go park cars. When I got my car back (after a 45 min wait,) the tire pressure was lowered in all 4 tires, and there was a greasy footprint on my floormat. The hotel room itself, though, was adequate for a budget hotel such as a Best Western or something, and the room was clean, if not exactly well-appointed. While the service would prevent me from staying there again, I can say that the location is good, and my room was okay overall, though it was showing some signs of wear and tear.

The Royal St Charles Hotel was a great hotel to stay in! It's close to Canal Street and the staff was wonderful!!!

The hotel is good for the money/location. Bourbon is a short 3 - 5 min walk. The only problem I had was when I got home I noticed some damage to my bumper that was not there before I parked valet. (It is a brand new car) I called them and they said they were not responsible for any damages caused to the vehicle when parked valet. There a tons of hotels in this area so I doubt I ever stay here again just because they were not willing to listen to me about the damage done to my car. Not a bad place to stay just be careful valet parking since the valet parking lot is 5 blocks from the hotel and you will not be compensated for any damages done to your vehicle.

I thought this was a great place to stay in the New Orleans french quarter area. The price was unbeatable, and we were within walking distance of everything we wanted to see. The street car stop is right outhside the hotel lobby. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the valet parking for one night wa free! We will definitely make a return visit.

We arrive at the hotel and had to park in a no-parking zone while we checked in. There was only one vallet and all the available waiting was taken. I asked the desk if there was a process for vallet and she told me it was first come, first serve. I returned to my vehicle to wait in line. As parking freed in front of me, I pulled up. A Mercedes arrived next and pulled in behind me. Much to my dismay, the vallet took the Mercedes next. I went back in to ask the desk what I did wrong, she politely apologized and said I would be next. Normally, I wouldn't complain about being skipped over (mistakes happen), but in this case, it meant 15 more minutes of waiting. When the vallet returned, he took the car behind me AGAIN. Apparently, the two cars behind me knew to wait on the INSIDE of the doors and grab the vallet as he entered. I complained, left my keys with him and went to my room. In the night, I awoke because my room was well over 80 degrees. This is an old hotel, so such things are expected. They will charge you $7.95 for a resort fee when you get there for use of their "fitness center" and wireless access. I was not there for web surfing or fitness so I was irritated with this charge. I am currently working a dispute with Royal St. Hotel because they saw fit to charge me $41.55. I signed no authorization for this charge, and made no phone calls from my room. They have not returned my phone call to explain the charge. Bottomline: spend the extra money to stay in a more respectable hotel.

Warning, valet parking personnel and system are absolutely terrible. Never experienced anything like it. There are 4 spaces in front of the hotel, so you need to double park, and the valet will only park your auto if you are NOT double parked! Parking lot is 5 blocks away and the valet parker weighed in at around 400 pounds so it took him 20 minutes to wlak back or the next auto! Reception personnel do not take responsibility, asked for manager and was told not available, I asked who is in charge and the answer no one! My advice choose another hotel, or park you auto 1 block up the street, for the same price!

Location, location, location...this modern, newly decorated hotel is just really close to everything you'll want to do in New Orleans. The only issue is that the staff are not especially attentive (although housekeeping came right up with towels - the only exception) and the rooms are small. Our room didn't have a window which was weird, but who really wants to be woken up by the sun after a night on Bourbon anyway?

The room was perfect for sleeping and a little rest. Although clean, the walls were marred and the non-smoking room smelled of smoke. Since the room was only for sleep, none of that really mattered. I would recommend Royal St. Charles for short stays in New Orleans. If you like to rest a lot...maybe not.

I stayed in your Royal St. Charles Hotel, room 417, from Friday, August 14, through Sunday, August 16. Upon my arrival I was issued a key to a room that was occupied (I walked in on a young lady getting dressed!). I went back to the lobby to explain the situation. The front desk personnel had a nasty disposition and consistently blamed the hotel’s housekeeping staff. As I entered Room 417, I noticed that is was half the size of the previous room and the air conditioner was turned off. Needless to say the room was very, very warm. I entered the bathroom and discovered hair on the toilet and that there was one set of towels (even though my reservation reflected two adults). I continued to survey the room and noticed that we did not have an ironing board (30+ minute wait until we received it) and a coffee carafe (was told that the hotel did not have any more). Throughout my stay my towels were consistently dirty, and the bathroom plumbing was faulty (every time a neighboring room would flush, my toilet would screech). To make matters worse, one of my neighbors was extremely loud (music from a party) and the other consistently cursed his female visitor until very early in the morning. Because of the noise and condition of this hotel, I was unable to sleep comfortably for two nights, and hence, my mini vacation was far more stressful than intended.

The Hotel staff was very friendly. When we cheked in they gave us an interior room with no window. I went back down and asked for another room and they moved me to a room with a window. The rooms were small, but for going out in New New Orleans to drink and then returning for a good night of GREAT sex. I will stay here next time I am in New Orleans.

If you want to be in the heart of N.O.,you will love the location.We stayed on a weekday, so the street was quiet at night. The beds were very comfy and the service was wonderful.

Convenient. Friendly and helpful staff. Good to have business center. Only negative were the poor quality pillows. Very clean throughout. Some trolly noise from below on the St Charles side. Would go there again and will recommend.

Overall, the Royal St. Charles exceeded my expectations in terms of room size and comfort, and fell a little short in terms of pricing. The cost per night was quite nice, but there's an extra fee that's mandatory for all tenants which was charged daily, which I thought somewhat unfair for people running on a tight monetary budget. The breakfast of muffins and sweets that's promised every morning unfortunately only appears on the weekends - but there's coffee in the lobby every morning and in the rooms. There was also a problem with our door not locking (which was not resolved when presented to the staff). Other than that, the staff was friendly, the rooms clean and the stay, enjoyable.

Hotel said free valet parking, I have stayed there twice and had never gotten free parking. Also there were another hidden charge. Beside those unstated issues, this hotel is in a great location. And the rooms were nice for the price I paid.

We decided to hed out for a romantic Saturday and Sunday getaway and had an amazing time. The hotel staff was extremely friendly and helpful. This hotel was located right where we wanted it...Couple blocks from the Aquarium, short walk to Cafe du Monde and Jackson Square...Just a fabulous location. We are aready making plans for our next trip back and will be staying at the Royal St. charles.

Becareful when they say free valet the hotel does not honor that unless u have it reading exactly free on ur confirmation page they will charge u full price to park.... Rooms are are very small and the bathroom does not have a trash can very inconvient.

Nice hotel. Room was a little small. Bed was comfortable and price was very reasonable.

Comfortable, located in a great spot in downtown New Orleans right in the French Quarter close enough to walk to all the hot spots

The person who checked u sin was extremely rude and argumentive with us. She was a smart tale hen we tried to explain something to here she snapped at us. The rooms are extremely small. When we checked in we told them we had a handicapped person with us and they never once told us they had handicapped rooms nor did they offer to move us toone once they found out we had a wheel chair handicapped person with us. They do not have a continental breakfast like this site states they have a table set up with coffee only. There is no parking accesible to you unless you valet with them and the price a nite is outragious or you can park 5-6 blocks away and walk back. I was not very satisfied with this stay.

Great location for walking distance to everything. Says there is a continental breakfast and there is not, only coffee. Parking garage is 5 blocks from hotel. Staff was very friendly and great.

The hotel room we originally reserved had dirty stained sheets and the shower was not cleaned. The next room they put us in seemed to be decent but we found gum wrappers and a BUG in the bed!! -Room Service came at 5pm. -$26/a night for valet -$8/a night resort fee -The hotel ran my card several times

there where to many hidden charges.

When I checked in the hotel needed a credit card for incedential, the charge is $50, my card was ran 4 times for $112.50. The only reason I found out is because my bank called me on suspicion of fraudulant charges. The employees behind the desk did not offer an explanation and did not call a manager to speak with me. The hotel is really nice and clean and in great vicinity to everything. If you go either use cash for the incidential charges or verify why is being charged.

This hotel, for the price has a great location, friendly staff, and great rooms! It takes awhile to check out and get your car from vallet when you are checking out right at 11, but it was more volume of people than anything to do with the staff. Would definately recommend staying here if you are going to spend a lot of time on bourbon street! (which, I recommend!)

As with all the other reviewers, the parking situation is a serious issue. I had to circle the block about 4 times just to find a place to stop and check in. The Valet did a good job though and we got our car back quickly. The continental breakfast consisted of coffee. That was it. It was a good location for Bourbon street, but for those of us who visit New Orleans with our kids, it would be better to stay somewhere closer to Jackson square instead of walking the dark alleys or the too well lit Bourbon street.

Parking SU**ED... Had to park at an parking garage that cost $40.00 a night... Said that valet parking was free but the lot just happened to be full...

A pleasant surprise was that hotels.com got us free valet parking. A good thing in the maze of one way streets in that neighborhood. :) An unpleasant surprise was that the "(light) continental breakfast" that is listed for this hotel's amenities means "we have coffee". The music in the (Ohm) bar/lounge next to the desk on the first floor was so loud I had trouble understanding what was being said while checking in. We were surprised/annoyed by the mandatory $7.95 resort fee (for fitness & business center that we didn't ask for or wanted, phone service that we didn't need, and wireless that we barely used).

Beware. I was bitten by bed bugs while residing here for two nights and the manager refused to refund the money for my stay!

Poor lighting in rooms-lamps did not offer adequate lighting. Overall, okay hotel for cost. No concierge service.

The one bed hotel rooms are very small. We did not have a place to hang our clothes. The Hotel needs to clean their furniture a little more and get new sheets for the beds. Once they have holes in them, its time to throw them out.

This hotel was well worth the price. The only complaint was the noise from the adjoining rooms. Once reported, the hotel staff corrected the problem. I would return to this hotel the next time I am in the Big Easy!
