Newport Beachside - Miami Beach

Room is big, but a bit dated. We had the room with ocean view and balcony. It has a really nice view. There are alot of places to eat within short driving distance. Not to mention right by the beach. You have to pay for parking. Vallet parking is $14. Self parking is $10 but you have to cross bussy street to go to the parking lot. Our bathroom need work. Bathtub is cracking and takes forever to drain when you take a shower.

there is a big difference in the price of a non-ocean front room and an ocean-front room, and the difference goes solely to the fact that the room has an ocean front. people who pay the extra money pay it to get an ocean front room. not a non ocean front room. the concept is very simple. yet Newport seems totally oblivious to the concept of ocean front rooms, the concept of booking, the concept of customer service and first impressions. when the first thing you hear upon arriving at the hotel is that you can't have the ocean front room you have reserved and payed for a month ago because they are out of ocean front rooms, you know things are not going to be good. a lot of the details that you might over look if you had recieved what you had paid for (like hair in the tubs, old furniture, bed bugs) will not go unnoticed. the swimming pool and the beach are not very clean either. the beach had straws, cigarette butts and just general dirt all over (even early in the morning which makes you wonder if they clean it at all). the restaurants, bar & lobby are quite nice though. All in all, the hotel is not horrible but if like me you're thinking about sacrificing the proximity to south beach to a nice room view: think again; chances are you're not gonna get that view despite paying for it and you end up being stuck 40 minutes away from south beach for nothing. there's dining and shopping options near the hotel but not the stuff you travel for, just your normal chains.

everything was nice except for the bathroom, jet tub when i went to use a punch of gunk came out need to be cleaned better with clorox to clean out jets for the next customer.

NEEDS A LOT IMPROVEMENTS LIKE CHANGE A FURNUTURE AND CARPET

What can I sat ? Great location . Great view . Great staff . Great price . I loved the view from the balcony , overlooking the pool & the pier . The staff was very knowledgeable in getting us around the city ; and there is a lot to see . The hotel had something going on from the time we got there ... you didn't really have to leave . The room was quite comfortable ; slept like a baby in the king size bed .I have two regrets : I didn't bring my golf clubs ( there is a par 3 course about 10 minutes south ) , and I only won $3.00 in Powerball ; so I couldn't stay . I will definitely be going back .

This hotel is very convienently located, but they really need to do some serious renovations. It is so far behind. With one restroom with a party of six, not very fun. The lobby and pool area seems to be in a seperate hotel. Renovation is a must.

Great hotel if you get an oceanfront room! The view is awesome!! If you choose any other room, your view will be not too bad on the south side, worse on the north side. What most pictures on the web show are very old and they try to hide the fact that the Newport is DWARFED by two huge condos on the north and south sides. The one on the south blocks out the afternoon sun by the pool. I'll go again when I find a decent oceanfront rate as I did this trip. Just don't forget the $10 a day fee, $10 self parking across 6 lanes of traffic. The TikI Bar on the pier has great food (excellent fish & chips!!)and reasonable prices.

Lobby/reception area impressive with alot of thought and time going into the decor but as soon as we reached our floor the decor changed to being basic and worn looking. Although our room was functional it too showed signs of wear and tear. The air conditioning gave a stale smell. If we had been staying for more than one night then I would have complained. There were hidden costs to stay at this hotel. Pool and hot tub were great as was the beach location. Nearby food facilities were cheaper than the hotel.

The activities at the hotel and location was great. Nice lobby, pool, and beach area. Only negative, the beds were very uncomfortable.

Just be careful with the movies and music on your TV set in the room, they are expensive and they charged some at check out that I never put on. They credit me for the movies.

Air conditioner was broken, the staff did not try to accomodate us in any way. We asked to be moved, use a fan, or anyway to help with the extreme heat in our room. The room thermostat was at 90 degrees or higher during the entire week. They made excuses all week that did not help that we could not sleep becuz it was soooo hot. The room was clean, older rooms but clean. The problem is with the service!

Our stay was reasonably priced and very good in some respects. The location is pretty remote (better described in our view as Sunny Isles Beach location) from downtown Miami and the bus though cheap, is usually packed and takes forever to get there. You do have to travel to get to most of Miami's attractions and taxis are not particularly cheap from hotel to downtown.(52 dollars) However, if you want a pool/beach holiday, these are very good at this hotel. The pool is of a good size and pretty nice and beach access wonderful. Hotel's activities for kids go down well. Hotel staff are polite and helpful at all times, can't do enough for you and are always willing to try and sort out any issues.Rooms are a little shabby in some respects, although clean, and not always fully equipped with cutlery etc-you just have to keep on asking and you will get what you want!! The rooms over the pool are probably better and have great sea views(we moved to one). Hotel breakfast buffets are good and extensive choice, but expensive and the hotel restaurant is quite pricey and their 'meal deal' not recommended (tasteless pasta!) Overal, if you want a reasonable price, book early and don't expect luxury, but the location right on the beach is great.

The area is very nice. The hotel exceeded our expectations. The staff was very good. The partial view room with balcony was well worth it. The beach and water were outstanding. We didn't use valet parking. It was no big deal walking across the street to get car.

For a two night stay in miami i wanted a beach-front place; this hotel did not dissappoint. In addition to easy access to food, 95 and route 1, The beach was clear, the pool was large and the lobby clean and beautiful. There are games and events to attend every day and night for families and adults. I played bingo and won two free drinks and the final raffle for a bottle of champagne! My only complaint, our room. We checked in to a room only to find someone was already residing there. The second room was never cleaned that day with water bottles and towels all over. The 3rd room finally fit but the tub dripped and the mini fridge didn't worked. The room was outdated and the bathroom left much to be desired. If you want a nice beachside room with a great breakfast buffet (we were comped due to the room issues)and little events to entertain, but aren't picky about your room , this hotel is fine.

Located right on the beach this hotel offers a convinience for beach lovers. The rooms are large. But they REALLY need updating. Plus the windows are completelly sealed and there is no balcony so you are stuck with breathing AC instead of the ocean breeze. Kitchenette is there but it is so small I would not call it that way. The sofa in the living room looked like 20 years old. I also used the gym which was quite nice.

Three words: EL MEJOR HOTEL

WE DID STAY AT THE NEWPORT BEACH RESORT WHEN WE ARRIVED THEY CLAIMED THEY WERE OVERBOOKED AND SENT US TO THE FOUR POINTS LE MERIDIAN. DO NOT MISUNDERSTAND ME, THE ACCOMODATIONS WERE A MILLION TIMES BETTER, BUT THERE WERE NO ACTIVITIES. THE PARKING WAS $25.00 INSTEAD OF $15.00 A DAY. AND OF COURSE THE FOOD WAS MUCH MORE MONEY. I WAS SHOCKED TO FIND THIS OUT WHEN I AM CHECKING IN. WE HAVE ALL BEEN AT THE NEWPORT FOR MY COUSINS WEDDING AND EVEN THOUGH THE ACCOMODATIONS ARE NOT AS NICE AS THE FOUR POINTS, THERE WAS ALOT OF ACTION, ESPECIALLY FOR MY CHILDREN. WITH ALOT OF ACTIVITIES ALL DAY. THE RESTAURANTS ARE REASONABLE. DINNER AT THE LE MERIDIAN WAS 150.00 FOR THE FOUR OF US. OVERALL BEUTIFUL APARTMENT WITH NOTHING TO DO RGDS/CHARLIE OFFMAN

The hotel is located on a very busy stretch of N. Miami Beach. The beach was extremely crowded since there is public beach access right next to the hotel and there is no control over the hotels section of beach. The pool was crowded also. Overall, I would not stay here again since I do not like crowds on vacation.

Let me just say that this was truly unexpected. I really enjoyed myself at this hotel. My wife and I had the time of our lives and when we return to Miami we will be staying right back here at this establishment. We enjoyed it so much that we have been reccomending it to everyone. This is a very nice hotel and the location is ideal for tourist.

i had fun, the family had fun. there was this awesome tiki bar in the pier. i was going there everyday the food was great. by the third day everyone knew me. the hotel is very pretty and by far the fastes elevator ever. it was a great stay it was just a little too packed. other than that i would go again.

the hotel is close to the beach; the room was ok and clean; the employees were friendly; the pool made fun - but the bathroom ... zero stars and less!!! the tube was broken and other things in the bathroom were so bad too. but over all it was ok and we had lot of fun in the pool and beach. you see - this hotel has two sides ... but maybe other rooms / bathrooms are better?

the room was very outdated as far as the bathroom and shower. the carpet looked fairly new but had obviously not been vaccumed for a very long time... previous guests hair was everywhere! the mattress's were saggy, so my family all complained of back pain. my room was considered a non smoking room that smelled like an ashtray... i'm sure at one time it was a smoking room. other than that the price was fair... but look closely when booking there are some additional charges that might surprise you... $10-$15 dollars per day for parking and a $10 fee per day for who knows what! but lots of onsite entertainment and conveniance's made it a reletively fun stay!

I love this hotel. I rent here every year. My favorite part is all the entertainment they have. I love chilling by the pool and listening to the live Dj entertainment they have all day by the pool.

The good: Nice location at the beach, close to some fast food restaurants, convenient when travelling with kids, and a Publix. The staff is generally friendly and helpful (see below though). The bad: The hotel is rundown and in dire need of restoration. Housekeeping is sloppy and our room was left dirty throughout our 6 night stay. I've got the impression that that cleaning staff is undermanned. The main reason for not ever going back though is that the staff was less than truthful when it came to extending our stay a few hours past check out time, for a fee, of course. Our plane left late in the evening and we really needed the extension because of our two small kids. The staff told us that that they could not give us info about the possibility of an extension until the morning of our departure, not even the evening before, because the hotel might be fully booked. On the morning of our departure they said they didn’t have any rooms available, despite the fact that the hotels website said there were more than 20 rooms available of all categories. I tried booking one and it was no problem. In other words, they lied to us, perhaps in order for us not to switch hotels. We have stayed at several other hotels in South beach and they were all much better. Shop around and you’ll be happy you did. We will not return.

My girlfriends and I stayed at the Newport Beachside for a long weekend getaway. The staff was friendly, great location directly on the beach and there were 4 restuarants/bars inside and outside on the beach. However, the hotel is older and therefore need alot of upgrade. The first night we stayed a roach climb on my girlfriend while we were sleeping and we had to kill another on the table. The towels they first brought were all stained which we complained and they ended up bringing us cleaner towels. There is a $15 charge per day for valet parking and the other parking lot is $10. The food in the restuarants are expensive and they charge 9% tax and 18% gratuity on all checks regardless of how many people. Oh, the hotel is located on Sunny Isle and South Beach is about 20mins away. From the hotel to South Beach is $30 in a cab.

Asked for room with 2 double beds. Received room with one king bed and pullout couch. The sheets in pullout were used and we got them changed. Air con system noisy and poor. We were overlooking busy street with lots of traffic noise. This Hotel in lobby area looks fine but the bedroom was a major disappointment, old and basic. On a positive note. The beach and pool are excellent.They make a great effort at entertaining Kids and adults. Overall with the addition of parking charges and service charges it is not cheap and needs a complete refurbishment.

The Hotel was not what we expected.We had more problems with the room than any other hotel I have ever stayed at.First they gave our room to someone else.We had to speak to the manager to get the room we paid for.The hotel associate was very rude.The manager never came out to speak with us.He stayed in the office the whole time.Later on he called our room and asked what the problem was .We told him, all we got was free breakfast.I will never stay at that hotel again.The beach was beautiful.

We have just returned from the Newport Beachside and we had a great holiday. The hotel is lovely - probably the best that we have stayed at in Florida ( we travel a lot!) and we would highly recommend it and would return there. The hotel was clean and the rooms are large and spacious and were cleaned with fresh towels and toiletries every day. The location right on the beach makes it perfect for a beach holiday and there were plenty of sunbeds and the beach was also kept very clean. We found the staff in the hotel to be very helpful and polite and there were activites on all day which kept my 13 year old son amused and there were good prizes on offer. He won free ice creams, drinks and breakfasts.The food and drinks were a bit pricy in the hotel - but all hotel prices are a bit more expensive - but you could have beach service which was excellent. The hotel is in a fairly good location as there were some shops across the road but the S bus stops outside and takes you to the Aventura mall one way and to downtown Miami on the other side of the road - for only 2 dollars one way it was a real bargain. My husband and daughter used the hotel gym every day and were impressed with the range of equipment on offer. I would definately recommend this hotel and would return there if I go back to the Sunny Isles.

Newport Beachside was overbooked (which the cab driver said they do frequently...) so they paid our cab fare and the rate difference to stay at Le Meridien, which was a 5-star hotel. So, I paid a really, really low rate to stay at a fabulous hotel. Newport already had everything arranged, so to their credit, there were no hassles.

I didn't like the fact that I had to pay to park and wasn't told before hand. Also the extra fee that is for things that are considered Free!

It was interesting that I had to pay a extra fee a day to use thing that were considered free! The fact that I had to pay to park and wasn't informed when booking. Other than that it was a nice hotel in a nice location. Also it is not located on North Miami Beach...it is located on Sunny Isles Beach with is much further north of Miami Beach!

booked a 2 bedroom suite online 6 weeks before my arrival and when I checked in I was told that other guests had stayed over and all they had available were 1 bedroom suites. They gave me an additional room which would have been nice except for the fact that my husband and I were traveling with children who couldnt be in a room by themselves. They placed us right next to the elevators and we could here all activity from that and the beds were hard as a rock and lumpy. The pillows may as well not even have been there for as flat as they were. About 4 a.m. my daughter and I went down to try and sleep on the pool chairs, trust me they were more comfortable than the beds. The pool, Jacuzzi, and beach were wonderful though. Of course I could have gotten that at any of the hotels. I will not return to this hotel. Live and learn.

The rooms (we had a suite) were nice and very clean (although the decor was outdated). The beds were a tad uncomfortable (the mattresses) and the turntable in the microwave didn't work (the part that actually turned was MISSING!!!), BUT, the hotel is right on the beach! Make sure you rent a cabana early ($20 for the whole day). You won't regret it. Almost everything is within walking distance or a 10-minute drive. We plan to go back again. Great value. Great location.

Location is outstanding. The main attraction is the clean wide beach with ample amenities and activities. You can walk/swim quite a distance out from shore and the bottom is soft sand. Some of the most pleasant ocean swimming I've ever done. Staff often seen working hard at keeping things clean (wiping windows, smoothing beach sand in the morning, etc). Periodic partolling by security also noticed and appreciated. Seems to be family oriented although did not feel out of place as a couple. Kids I watched seemed massively entertained, either by pool/beach or ongoing hotel sponsored activites. Staff is very professional and display genuine friendliness; they're a strong plus to the hotel. Nice pier next to hotel provides casual drinks/dining as does the hotel pool bar. $10 dinner available inside restaurant nice option as is breakfast buffet. Nearby activites abound if you have a car, otherwise foot distance limited to shopping and beach strolling. There is a microwave and fridge in the room if you want to save a bit on meals by making something simple or saving leftovers. The rooms also have a sitting area inside and a balcony to sit on. The bathroom and extra sink area outside it looked recently remodeled. We had no bad experiences here and were overall very impressed with what we got for our dollar. If you want a reasonably priced hotel on the beach close to alot of activities you would be hard pressed to come up with a better place. I look forward to returning one day.

The valet parking attendant down to the desk clerk and incl. housekeeping were very pleasant and accomidating. Price was worth the it. Food and entertainment very good. recommended to all for 3 stars.

I was very nervous about coming to this hotel after reading the terrible reviews. When we got there we were pleasantly surprised. Staff were very friendly and the hotel was nice. We stayed in a room that was newly renovated. The beach was great and the pool area was very clean. They provided Bath and Body Works products in the restrooms. The concierge checked us into our return flight and printed boarding passes for us so we did not have to spend $5 on the business center. There is free wifi in the rooms. The valet staff were very friendly and quick. Some of my concerns with the hotel were that the fishing pier was under renovation and not accessible. This was not the case when we booked the trip and was a main reason for choosing the location. We were lead to believe we were receiving an upgrade when we checked in. It was a nice, newly renovated room but much smaller than the one I initially booked. When I asked about switching at the front desk we were told any other rooms they had available would be a down grade. The parking is expensive. We paid for valet so I'm not sure how far away the self-parking was. I know it was across the road. There were three elevators but they were fairly slow during the day when a lot of people were out and about. Overall for the money we spent this was a good deal. I would definitely stay again. It is a great location, right on the beach and close to other businesses. The rooms were quiet even though the hotel was full of families.

ONCE WE CHECKED IN WE WERE UPGRADED TO A SUITE WITH A VIEW WHICH WAS REALLY NICE. THIS IS THE 2ND TIME I HAVE STAYED THERE. LOVE THE CONVENIANCE TO THE BEACH AND NEARBY SHOPPING & RESTAURANTS. ONLY COMPLAINT IS HOUSEKEEPING STAFF. HAD TO ASK FOR MORE TOWELS ON A DAILY BASIS AND ROOM WAS NOT CLEANED DAILY AS IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN. I WILL HOWEVER CONTINUE TO STAY THERE BASED ON THE VALUE AND LOCATION.

Bed was hard as a brick. Room had a great view, small sofa. Good location, right on the beach. Drinks had a bit too much alcohol. On our last evening we were bothered by the jacuzzi leaking to the room below us and were told we could not use it for the rest of our stay. They had several activities like BINGO and we won 4 buy one drink get one free. Breakfast at Ocean Reef inside hotel was not fully cooked.
