We enjoyed our short stay. The room was fine, clean & basic. We did have a problem with the air conditioning. When you leave your room, you must take the key, this turns off all power to your unit disabling the air conditioner. When you get back in, it is hot! There was no temperature control on the unit, choice is on or off. It got pretty cold during the night, it was a pain in the neck. Plenty of eating places & shops close to the hotel.

I wouldn't recommend a room facing the street if you are a light sleeper. Being on a popular pedestrian walkway, the noise level could get pretty high at all times of the night. Other than that, the staff was friendly and the location was ideal for the price. Location was within walking distance to many popular tourist attractions, close to a major subway station and in what felt like a fairly safe neighborhood.

Noisy, air con units let noise through from the street. Beds hard and room felt cramped. Staff were helpful and friendly but I would want better than this. Felt like it's had it's day...a while ago.

The Best Western Hotel Carlos V is a great place for a single traveler or a couple who want a safe but centrally located hotel in order to experience the culture of Madrid. It is very close to the Sol Metro Station and hundreds of fabulous shops and restaurants. The hotel will exceed your expectations - considering the low price. I highly recommend this hotel. But be sure to have a detailed map so you can more easily find it (Madrid's street names change from block to block!).

This hotel is warm and charming, with large rooms and a great location. On the other hand, the staff was selectively indifferent; for example, it was virtually impossible to get a coffee refill at breakfast, and the guy at the front desk merely grunted when we came in. Everything in the room worked, but the elevator remained broken for more than 24 hours, meaning many stairs for those of us three floors up. It's a gamble: not bad for the money, but you probably could do better.

We were very pleased with our room at the hotel. It was comfortable, clean and spacious. The bathroom was huge! We had breakfast in the hotel restaurant one morning but found that the buffet was too pricey for the ammount of food we eat at breakfast. The hotel is very convenient to the Metro and is located in the heart of the action in the Puerto del Sol and Plaza Mayor area. We would recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable, convenient place to stay in Madrid.

The rooms are excessively small; comfort is wanting. It is OK if one intends only a transitory stay. Service is generally good and efficient.

A good standard, near everything (very central location). The room and service was good but not outstanding. A good choice for one or two nights.

Bien situé en centre ville, accessible par métro et bus, chambre avec terrasse au 5ème étage, calme, bon standing, fenêtre double vitrage, cafétéria à tout heure, belle décoration, et accueil très convivial.
