Hotel Jazz - Barcelona

Reception staff very helpful - let me use their own terminal when I messed up my on-line check-in for the flight on their (free) internet. Room fabulous - biggest "goody box" ever - including a shaving kit (useful after 2 weeks holiday!) and dental kits. Roof top pool!

Rooms are really big and spacious - at least ours was. Only downside, it smelt smokey which wasn't all that nice. All mod cons and staff friendly and helpful. Lovely roof top for sunbathing or chilling out for evening drinks. Location is walking distance to EVERYTHING. Excellent but very bustly and sometimes noisy - you are in the middle of the city after all. Generally nice hotel, but not amazing.

Hotel Jazz was a great place to stay with a great central location. The rooms were smart and clean and the staff were helpful. The icing on the cake has to be the rooftop pool and bar which is a great place to relax after a day's sightseeing. Our room was on the second floor and we could hear the metro below the hotel. It didn't bother us but you might want to ask for a room on a higher floor if you are concerned.

My sister and I stayed at the Jazz Hotel in August 2009 for 3 nights and can only add to the other good reviews re this hotel. It is in the centre of town, our room, especially beds and pillows, was very comfortable ensuring good sleep - very important after walking everywhere all day. Were on 4th floor and found the rumble of the metro underneath the bed quite soothing and not disturbing at all. Air conditioning quiet and black out curtains brilliant! Paid Euros 10.20 extra for hotel breakfast which was very good and worth the money. Loved the pool and pool bar though it was nigh on impossible to get a lounger as hotel was full. However there were always chairs, tables and umbrellas around the bar area. Pool small but refreshing in the August heat. Will definitely book this hotel again when visiting Barcelona.

The location of the hotel is central and situated on a wider street rather than a narrow alley. It is ideal for sightseeing. As we enjoy walking (you see more) we only used the underground once, and that was located 100 metres from the hotel. The aerobus to and from the airport is easily within walking distance. The hotel is well soundproofed and we were never disturbed by noise. Our room was a good size, modern and clean. The hotel staff were exceedingly helpful. It was great to relax at the rooftop bar and pool after a day out.

This hotel is just off La Rambla, between two main metro stations, which are very easy to use. The staff are friendly, the rooms are a good size and quiet. The showers were great and the beds were good (I remember someone else commenting that they were uncomfortable). Although we didn't eat at the hotel because it looked like it left a lot to be desired. Def stay here again.

Great value for such a high standard hotel. Rooms very clean and air con was excellent. Bed very comfortable also. Metro station at your doorstep or only a short walk to the centre. If I go back I will use this hotel again.

Hotel staffs are friendly and nice....Location is great with Pl Gracia and La Ramblas nearby. Free internet access makes us so convenience to check email. Early check-in in the morning and an upgrade to a suite room was really a super bonus to us!! We even wanna stay at room than going outside! Will definitely recommend friends to stay. Suggest to stay higher floor to avoid traffic noise in the morning.

We moved to the Jazz when the Majestic where we were staying was booked and we wanted to stay a few extra days. It turned out to be a great surprise and as good as the 5 star Majestic. Three stars is so unfair to this small wonder in the heart of Barcelona. Attentive staff, walking distance to Ramblas, large rooms for Europe and great bathrooms. Not to mention the great Jazz stations playing on the room radios. I would not only recomend it, I would certainly go back myself.

The location is perfect, close to Gracia and Catalunya, Univeersitat stations equally. You will need one full day for Montjuic (Jewish Hill)area. And, Bari Gothic(Old Town, Picasso museum, Roman wall, Dali) area, the east side of Rambla, for 1.5 days on foot, then another day for Eixample for Sagrada familia church and Casa Mila and others. And, one more day if you want to explore sitges beaches, or Parc Guell for an excursion. From the BCN Airport, the Aero Bus(Platform 2 for T2 Bus for British Air, 4.50 Euro-25 min.) drops you off or pick you up every 15min. at the East side of Catalunya Plaza(head to the northern side of the plaze and walk left) and The Jazz hotel is two blocks away(7 min.) in Green building with Alliantz Insurance Group plaza-7 min. walk. The local area is for University crowds(El raval) and it can be fun to watch the young in the streets. Luckily the annual club music festival was held in the small front yard of Museum of Contemporary Art when I visited there(Richard Meir, architect). And, that enhanced the spirits of the students and others of BCN. The three negative things; the cleaning maid never leave the new shampoo or shower gel for 3 days and we had to be careful not to use up the tiny bottles. The front desk later confirmed that that had nothing to do with their eco policy. The second thing is, there were some pickpocket attempts, approaching tourists at night and distracting one while robbing the other while hugging them or shaking hands while covering their acts with maps or jackets they carry. And, thirdly, Rambla is a real disappointment all the way to the waterfront. And, from the half way(Liceu station) to the Columbus column/water front, The street was filled with more African Prostitutes, who are often aggressive, than the strollers. And, I would advise any family with children not to visit this place at night. In all, Jazz Hotel met my expectation and I would recommend this place to others for its ideal location and bette

Got to this hotel way early, 7 am.. and they got us in a room still. Which was incredible.. actually an upgrade. Loved the location, very close to Las Ramblas. I only wish I could have stayed here longer, because this was one of the best hotels I've stayed at in Spain.

I would highly recommend Hotel Jazz - really nice decor with a good sized room, roof top pool was a bonus. Staff were great - I had a few questions before we left and they emailed back really promptly with helpful responses. Good location close to Ramblas and easy access to other major sites. Would definitely return.

Good position for the Ramblas and all that it offers. Helpful and friendly staff who even provided discount vouchers. If we ever went back to Barcelona we'd definitely stay here again.

The hotel lived up to the reviews we'd read. We took taxis to and from the airport because it was raining, but found the fares reasonable (about 25 Euros). One small concern was the water from the hot water faucet wasn't hot in the late afternoon, but the following morning there was plenty of hot water for showering. Lovely staff and they willingly held our bags after checkout so we could sightsee before departing. After noisy rooms in geneva and Brussels, we requested a quiet room -- which we got. It overlooked the small interior courtyard and was QUIET. We also liked the fact that we could open the windows WIDE. We would definitely go back to the hotel Jazz.

Very convienent to most attractions. Subway noise was not as bad as anticipated based on other reviewers. Barely noticed it.

A very nice hotel, small with very helpful staff. Spotless clean, great breakfast buffet, very comfortable room, excellent air conditioning. The location is fantastic. one hundred m from the airbus bus stop, the metro is fifty m away and placa Catyaluna, La Ramblas, shops, bars, restaraunts, tour buses are all under five minutes away. Yet, you are not right in the middle of the hustle and bustle, just close enough. It is on a busy street for traffic but the soundproofing in the windows is excellent. The metro does run under the hotel and you can feel/hear the rumble. We were on the first floor but you really would'nt notice it. If you are fussy, ask for a room on the higher floors. Overall a great little hotel in a great location.

A very enjoyable stay - hotel was very central,rooms were clean and spacious. Enjoyed one dip in the swimming pool but felt that the opening hours should have been longer.Only citicism is the colour scheme in the hotel lobby - was greys and blacks and was a little dark. Would certainly go back.

First off, PLEASE DO INSIST on a top level room. Floor 6 or up. We were on the 6th floor and we still heard trains but it was ok. Any lower though and it would be unbearable. Other than that, fabulous hotel. Worth the money. The terrace and pool are heavenly. The rooms are gorgeous. Inbuilt music system a wonderful touch. Service was sometimes a little unfriendly but late breakfast a bonus. Location absolutely perfect. All in all I would highly recommend this hotel -and have done- to anyone heading to Barcelona.

Great hotel. We were upgraded to a suite, which was an added bonus. Nice clean room, with lots of windows. Modern, spacious bathroom. The staff members were friendly and helpful and spoke english quite well. You can feel the metro vibration below which may be bothersome to some people, but this would be an issue in many other buildings as well. I would recommend requesting a room on a higher level of the building (we did and were on the 6th level). This hotel is near La Rambla, which may be great to some visitors, but it is very touristy. We preferred to walk or takr the metro and spend our time in other neighborhoods (Barri Gotic).

Just had one night only, with my wife at the Jazz, centrally located thotoughlly enjoyed it, going back soon for longer.Only one thing dont trust the doormans estimate for driving to Girona airport, he reckoned 25 mins. Luckily I had the good sense to think otherwise, allow 2 hours!

...not specifically to this hotel, but probably Spain/Barcelona in general. Despite quite a few residents (the 20-odd loungers around the pool were nearly always full) there was no bar service, and no staff... same for the bar and the housemaids - although the rooms were made up, they were obviously rushed and things were often forgotten. However, reception and the bar staff (when there) were very pleasant, and the hotel in general was fine - I'm sure had we been a week earlier it would've been a different story.

Hotel Jazz was absolutely the perfect place to stay in Barcelona. The location is perfect - a very short walk to Las Ramblas and many of the sites tourists want to take in, but not right on the main strip so you don't have to deal with noise and crowds. The room was wonderful. Very nice, very clean. The hotel staff was friendly and very helpful. The only thing that wasn't ideal about this hotel is that the bar closes at 11pm. I would absolutely stay at Hotel Jazz again.

This hotel is situated in a great part of Barcelona and is priced suitably for the wonderful service and accommodations it gives.

This is one of the best hotels I've stayed in. It's in a great location-just a 2 minute walk from the top of Las Ramblas. It has great sun bathing facilities and a good size pool- both on the roof of the hotel providing great views. It's well organised, clean and modern yet, at the same time, it's relaxed. Definitely recommend this hotel. In fact, my brother is has now booked to stay here when he goes in November.

Centrally situated, the only negative point being the odd vibrations from the underground running below us but not a real problem. Loved the contemporary design, just felt very relaxed as soon as we walked in. The roof top pool is a real bonus in the hot city. Staff were friendly, courteous and helpful. Would definitely return.

The hotel is very central, located in Plaça Universitat, you can walk everywhere. The swimming pool on the terrace is very well kept and not usually crowded so makes for a very quiet and relaxing experience. Great staff too.

- Location is excellent, close to major train stations - Rooms are well kept, only complaint is that showers cause flooding because fixed glass panel is inadequate - Breakfast buffet is too expensive (14.5 Euro) - Staff was friendly and helpful - Request room on upper floor, colleague on 2nd floor had problems with noise when trains passed beneath hotel. My room was on 4th floor an i could hear the train but it was not a problem.

A superb small, high-quality hotel very close to the top of Las Ramblas. Comes at a price, but a really good weekend treat.

This is a great hotel. Very modern in style and decor. In a great location at the top of The Ramblas. The rooftop pool makes it a great place to relax after a hard day enjoying all that Barcelona has to offer.

Wonderful place to stay: fantastic location that is close to the subway and major tourist sites. The staff was cheerful and helpful.

The Jazz hotel was perfect for our shortbreak. The hotel is very central, clean and stylish. I would certainly stay there again!!

Short stay for a surprise birthday meal. Hotel is in a good location and staff friendly. Was surprised to find the outdoor swimming pool open in January, wish I'd packed my trunks! Only downside was a lack of in room ironing. Was told by reception they don't have ironing boards to use in rooms, you have to send the item to laundry service and they can do it for you- for a fee. Don't mind paying, but was going out in under an hour so wasn't practical. Friends staying at another BCN hotel had same problem

This is a three star hotel with a four star price. Although, the hotel is only a few years old including the building the rooms are already very worn and tired looking. The fundamental problem with the hotel is that a subway runs underneath the hotel which you can even hear from the top floor of the hotel. I was originally given a room on the third floor where things on the counter and floor actually vibrated when the subway passed underneath. Fortunately, I was able to move to the 7th floor where the subway sound became part of the ambient background noise. As a side note I never heard any jazz being played on the music system in the hotel. My first recommendation to the hotel owners is that they hire a sound engineer to figure out a way to muffle the sound of the subway. I heard complaints from so many people staying at the hotel so it is hard to believe that they ever have any repeat business. My second recommendation is get rid of the faux wood floors that are already showing the seams and replace with real wood or tile. Also look over the bathrooms because mine smelled very musty and it was probably because most of the calking behind the sink was falling apart and water was more than likely infiltrating into the wall. My third reommendation is to not be so chintzy with the soaps, shampoos, body gel in the room as I had to practically beg the maid to give me another lollipop size of soap. A better quality of bedding is badly needed instead of the tired polyester bedspreads which are completely unappealling.

I would definately recommend Hotel Jazz. It is in an excellent location - just 3 minutes walk from Placa Catalunya and the top of the Ramblas, it is very clean and the decor and fittings are very modern. The room is quite large and although the beds were classed as single they were somewhat larger being more like 3/4 size. One morning I made a request to reception to arrange to have a leaking tap repaired and when I returned that evening, the job had been completed. Before I travelled, I e-mailed the hotel for advice and information on location, transport from the airport and if the room had hairdryers and tea & coffee making facilities and the reply was very promt and the infomation supplied very useful. One very minor gripe is that the room did not have tea & coffee making facilities but it did have a well stocked mini bar. I will certainly return to Hotel Jazz on my next visit to Barcelona

Skøn central beliggended, meget positiv oplevelse, både service, comfort og renhed.

Veldig fint Hotell med ca 2min gange til L.Ramblas. Venlig og service innstilt personale. Veldig bra rengjøring av rom. Perfekt med bar og baseng på taket når det er sol og varmt.

meriterait une étoile suplémentaire par rapport à certains 3 et 4 étoiles espagnol loin de cette qualité; j'y retournerais et c'est sur.

Great Hotel, best 3 star Hotel we ever stayed in. The Hotel looks very new. The breakfast buffet is great, however there is no restaurant. There is a great pool area with a bar on the roof. The hotel is right next to the Metro.

Vi bodde på Hotel Jazz en uke og har kun positive ting å si om oppholdet. Rommet var av bra standard med stort fint bad. Vårt rom vendte mot sterkt traffikert gate, men vi opplevde ikke plagende støy. Det mest støyende var metroen som går rett under hotellet, men det var på ingen måte sjenerende. Om det er mer støy på etasjene nær bakkeplan kan tenkes. Hotellet har også en fin takterrasse med et lite svømmebasseng og bar. Vi benyttet oss mye av dette! En fin plass å trekke seg tilbake til etter lange dager med trasking i gatene i Barcelona. Hotellet ligger i et bra område, kun 5 minutt gange fra La Rambla, handlegater, metro-stasjon etc. Alt i alt er vi veldig fornøyd med oppholdet..
